Description

Woodstreet Cottage is a Wealden hall house, originally dating to the 15th century. It is now a house. The structure is timber framed and plastered, with portions underbuilt in red brick, and it is covered by a plain tiled roof. The house comprises three framed bays and a screens passage. It stands on a flint and brick plinth, with jetties projecting to the left and right, supported by brackets and a flying wall plate also carried on brackets. The roof is hipped, with stacks positioned centrally to the left and projecting at the right end. The first floor has three wooden casement windows, while the ground floor has two. There are 20th-century plank and muntin doors located centrally to the left and right. The left return front displays exposed close-studding and braced dragon posts. An outshot extends to the rear. Inside, the complete timber frame remains. A stack has been inserted into the screens passage.
