Description

This is a row of six late 18th to early 19th century terraced houses on Gatefield Lane. The houses are two storeys high, originally with six windows each. They have tiled hipped roofs and red brick fronts, with Nos 1 to 3 having painted brick. The windows are double-hung sashes, though most of the glazing bars have been lost, except in No. 4. The ground floors have shop fronts, located in Nos 1, 2, 3 and 6. Houses Nos 4 and 5 have segmental-headed windows with rubbed brick voussoirs, and plain wooden house doors set within frames, each with a small flat hood supported by brackets. The buildings are designated a Grade II listed building for their group value within the surrounding conservation area, forming a group with No 1A, Nos 1 to 8 (consec), and the Faversham Club.
