Description
The Faversham Borough Council Offices, located at 1 Preston Street, were built around 1840 and consist of two sections. The northern section slightly projects forward and features two storeys and an attic with seven window bays. The southern section has two storeys and three window bays. The building has a slate roof with three segmental-headed dormers and overhanging eaves supported by paired brackets. The front is made of red brick, with two round-headed windows in the northern section above a prostyle porch. This porch is supported by two Ionic columns and two Ionic pilasters at the ends, which hold up an entablature. The windows do not have glazing bars and feature rubbed brick voussoirs with stuccoed keystones. There is a string course above the ground floor windows. Nos 7 to 19A, which are consecutive, form a group with this building.
