Description

No. 14 Preston Street is an L-shaped timber-framed house dating from the 15th century. The building has been refronted with stucco on the first floor, while the ground floor features a modern shop front. The south front overhangs on a bressumer supported by brackets. The house has two storeys and two windows, with an eaves cornice and a tiled roof. The first floor has casement windows with small square leaded panes. The east wing at the back shows some exposed timber framing with plaster infilling, although it is partly covered with weather-boarding. This wing also contains two original windows, each with five lights, wooden mullions, and diamond leaded panes made of old green glass. The property is part of a group that includes Nos. 7 to 19A.
