Description

Portlands is a house dating to around 1840. The main front of the building has two storeys and three windows, and is rendered in stucco. It has a low-pitched, hipped slate roof with an overhanging eaves soffit. A projecting central bay is emphasised with a porch featuring square Ionic columns and Ionic pilasters at the angles. A moulded band runs along the first floor. The first-floor sash windows have margin lights, while the ground-floor casement windows are topped with console bracketed cornices. The side elevation has canted bays. A rear wing dates to the 18th century and is constructed of brick and flint, facing the road. Portlands forms a group with the oast house and drying shed, attached walls, stable buildings, and Portlands Cottage.
