Description
Burlings Cottage is a late 18th century or early 19th century cottage located on Burlings Lane in Knockholt. It is a single-storey building with a basement and features two windows. The cottage is constructed of red brick with a pattern of blue headers. It has a fairly low-pitched, near-pyramidal slate roof with slightly overhanging eaves. The windows are three-light sash types with glazing bars, set under restored gauged brick arches. Access to the cottage is via four steps that have an ornamental cast iron railing leading to a door with six fielded panels. Above the door is a segmental fanlight with quasi-radial bars, situated under a segmental brick arch in a segment-headed recess. There is a brick plinth and a one-storey garage extension on the right side of the building. Burlings Cottage, along with its outhouse and wall, forms a group with Franklow.
