Description

Lydens Farmhouse is a late 18th-century elevation masking an older timber-framed structure. It is two storeys high with a brick plinth. The house is constructed of brick, with a projecting stone chimney stack to one side. It has two hip gables connected by a ridge tile roof in the centre, and a moulded wooden cornice parapet with a concealed gutter behind. Plain eaves and bracket gutters are at either end. Two 19th-century octagon bay windows, each with a tiled roof, are present. The front features a central panelled door with a pedimented hood, alongside various modern casement windows. The east elevation is of stone laid in continuous courses, with brick quoins. Visible 16th-century timber framing with brick infill can be seen on the right return and at the back. There are two low, modern rear extensions. A fire insurance sign is located below the eaves.
