Description

Scudders is a house likely built by John Scudder around 1680 and restored in 1950. It is a two-storey timber-framed building that is plastered and features decorative pargetting in circles that mimic ornamental timbering, except at the north end. The roof is tiled and half-hipped at the south end, with two gables above the eaves that contain attic windows, and a larger gable at the north end. The house has five casement windows with wooden mullions and small square leaded panes. On the ground floor, there are two bays with two tiers of five lights each, featuring wooden transoms, sitting on a red brick base, with a gable over each bay. There is a gabled porch that has similar pargetting in the gable and a plastered core beneath it on all three sides. Inside, the house includes two inglenook fireplaces.
