Description

No. 103 High Street was originally built as a market hall in 1614 and has since been converted into public lavatories. It is likely from the 18th century and was refaced and significantly altered in the 19th century. The building has two storeys and features three windows. It is faced with Roman cement and is decorated with terra cotta ornamentation in the string course, frieze below the modillion cornice, and in the pilasters that flank the first-floor windows. There is a pediment above the windows, and the first floor has multi-paned windows. The ground floor likely had an open arcaded design originally, but this has been filled in with round-headed windows.
