Description
Bligh's Hotel is a 16th-century framed structure located on the west side of High Street. The building features a stucco elevation with large over-sailing gables on both the right and left, which are connected in the center by a ridge tile roof. The over-sailing gables are supported by corner timber brackets. The central portion of the building is a single storey, adorned with two gabled dormers.
On the ground floor, there are three splayed projecting bays that contain sash windows with pilastered mullions and a moulded entablature head at the end bays on either side. A modern panelled door with sidelights is present, and both the door and the window in the center bay have an ornamental projecting canopy above them. The first floor features sash windows with moulded dripstones above, located in the center of the gables on the right and left. The one-storey central feature has a ridge tile roof with eaves and gutter, along with two gabled dormers that contain sash windows in moulded frames. All sash windows are fitted with glazing bars.
In front of the hotel, there is a cobblestone verge along the pavement, complemented by ornamental posts and chains. The hotel’s name is displayed in raised metal letters above the canopy in the center.
