Description
44 High Street is a building dating from around 1840, originally part of a pair. It stands two storeys tall and features two windows. The roof is fairly low pitched and covered with slate, with wooden eaves soffits. The first floor is decorated with fancy tile hanging, while the ground floor is finished in incised stucco. A later 19th-century pent hood supported by brackets extends along the ground floor. On the left, there is a square bay shop window, and on the right, a canted bay. Between these are two glazed doors. The other windows are sash windows with margin lights. This building is included for its group value, as it forms part of a group with Nos 44 to 48 (even).
