Description
Lower St Clere is an L-shaped house dating from around 1600. The building was refaced in the 18th century, and the angle of the L was filled in during the late 19th century. The entrance front features two storeys and an attic with three windows. It has a fairly high pitched hipped swept tiled roof, which includes two 19th-century gabled dormers. The exterior is primarily red brick with some blue headers and a dentil cornice, resting on a large galletted rubble foundation. Flanking the half-glazed six-panel door, which is set beneath a modern wooden gabled porch, are 19th-century two-storey canted bays with sash windows. Above these bays are 19th-century casements. The left return of the building displays old rubble masonry. Inside, there is an inglenook and heavy beams featuring much roll moulding.
