Description

Broughton is a 18th century recasing of a 15th century hall house located on Watery Lane. The building has two storeys and features four irregularly placed windows. It has a large hipped tiled roof with ridge gablets and a stack that was probably rebuilt in the 16th century. The north front displays a tile-hung first floor and a brick ground floor with a band in several planes. The windows are 19th century one-bar casements. The left rear wing is from the 17th century or earlier, with a similar casing and a lean-to roof at the end. Inside, there is much exposed timber and an inglenook fireplace with stone jambs. The south front is made of brick, featuring a plinth and quoins.
