Description
The Chequers Public House is an 18th-century building, possibly with an earlier core. It stands two storeys high and features three windows. The exterior is made of half hipped tiled galletted coursed rubble masonry with a plinth and a brick band, along with brick dressings. The ground floor has square paned casements set beneath segmental brick arches. To the left, there is a two-storey addition made of brick, which has a weather-boarded first floor and a moulded wood eaves cornice. There are modern low additions on both the left and right sides, with the right side leading to a restaurant that is housed in a small converted 17th-century barn, where all the timber is exposed inside. Inside the pub, there is a restored inglenook.
