Description
The George and Dragon Public House is likely a 16th century framed structure located on the north side of High Street in Chipstead, Chevening. The street-facing elevation is made of painted brick with a wide painted stone base and features a brick band. The building has two storeys and three gable ends. It includes various 19th century wooden casement windows and public house glazed double doors set within a pilastered doorcase topped with an entablature. An inn sign is suspended from a projecting bracket in the center of the facade. The elevation facing the yard showcases exposed half-timbering with brick infilling and is tile hung above. To the right side facing the street, there are 18th century random stone additions that are one storey high with a hip tiled roof, eaves, and no gutter. An external stone chimney is located at the side of the inn, featuring 18th century coupled brick stacks.
