Description
Whitepost Farmhouse is a small, late mediaeval three-bay hall, likely dating from the 16th century, that has undergone alterations. It is two storeys high with an irregular arrangement of two and four windows. The building has a high-pitched tiled roof, hipped on the left-hand side with a gablet feature. An old compound stack rises through a lean-to extension on the right. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is red brick, with areas of blue diaper patterning. Modern casements and a gabled porch are present. A left-hand bay is a later addition. Inside, the lower portion of a chimney stack constructed of coursed freestone is visible. The interior features varied floor levels and fairly close-set visible timbers, with a purlin and windbrace roof. The building holds group value as an example of a vernacular building.
