Description

Finches is a timber-framed house, likely dating from the 16th century, with a 17th-century lean-to addition at the back. The building has two storeys and three irregularly placed windows. It features a high-pitched tiled roof that is half hipped on the left side, topped with a striking tall chimney stack made of old bricks. The first floor is weatherboarded, while the ground floor is constructed of modern brick. The windows are a mix of 19th-century and modern casements. The chimney was built around 1600, and the upper part of the house has been raised by approximately 6 feet at the eaves level, possibly during the same period or later. The side butt purlin roof suggests a later date for some of the construction.
