Description

This is a timber-framed building dating from the 17th century or earlier, with a later gabled cross-wing likely added in the early 18th century. The building has undergone significant alterations and recasing in the 19th century. It is characterised by a very steeply pitched tiled roof with three later gabled dormers featuring bargeboards. The building is two storeys plus an attic, and has three and one windows respectively. The first floor features mock half-timbering and plaster infill. The ground floor on the left side is red brick, dating from the 19th century. The right wing is constructed from graduated, galleted coursed rubble with red brick dressings and a random rubble plinth, and has half-basement openings. It contains 19th-century casement windows. Number 22, on the right-hand side, has an oriel above the shop window. To the left is a gabled projection with a single window. At the rear of the right wing is a large, offset stack constructed of rubble masonry below and brickwork above, with irregular offsets; also present is a tall shaft with a heavy cornice.
