Description

Lime Tree Cottages comprises two dwellings, Nos. 29 and 31, located on Lime Tree Walk. These cottages were designed by Sir Thomas Jackson and constructed by him and his father between 1878 and 1882 as part of a larger housing experiment intended to provide accommodation for working-class residents within a high-class residential area. This particular pair represents the only detached house within the overall scheme. The cottages are two storeys high with attics, and they feature stuccoed exteriors with red brick detailing. The eaves overhang and are stepped in bands. The roofs are tiled and include dormer windows. The windows are casement types.
