Description

This is a 17th-century or earlier house that was significantly altered and given a Gothic Revival appearance around the second quarter of the 19th century. It has since been divided into separate dwellings. The building is two storeys high and originally had two windows, though now subdivided. It features a steeply pitched roof covered in decorative tiles, with three bargeboarded gable ends, two of which are smaller. The exterior is rendered in stucco. The first floor at the eastern end juts out on old joists, supported by replacement decorative brackets. A prominent plinth runs along the base. There are 19th-century casement windows within the smaller gables, and other windows are three-light sash windows with hoodmoulds. A plank door is set beneath a small pent roof, and there is another entrance on the side return, featuring a door of two long panels. Exposed timbers are visible inside. Nos. 5 to 13 form a visually cohesive group.
