Description
Pigdown Farm Cottages, located on Pigdown Lane, are likely a 16th-century timber-framed house, possibly originally a hall. The building has two storeys and features four irregularly placed windows. It has a hipped tiled roof with ridge gablets and includes one old compound stack on the left and a later stack on the right. The first floor is tile hung from the 19th century, while the ground floor is made of red brick with a dentil band and a pattern of blue headers. Number 1 has 16th-century sash windows with glazing bars, whereas Number 2 has 18th-century and modern leaded casements. Inside, there is much exposed timber, including the original rear wall visible within later additions, and a blocked inglenook. The roof structure consists of side purlins with wind braces.
