Description

Hever Grange is a 16th-century house with substantial 19th-century extensions to the south. The original core of the house is two storeys high and has three windows with an irregular appearance. It features a high-pitched tiled roof with a compound ridge stack. The upper floor displays fairly stout, close-set timbers, while the ground floor is constructed of brick. A gable was inserted in the centre of the original structure. Modern casement windows are now in place. The original front door is sheltered by a tiled hood with brackets. Close studding continues on the first floor of the right return. A 19th-century extension runs to the rear. The remainder of the house is Victorian, but built in a style sympathetic to the original. Internally, some exposed beams with ornamental chamfer stops, including stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, are visible. The drawing room contains some Jacobean panelling, which may have been imported.
