Description
Wall Cottage is a 19th-century building designed by George Devey, dated 1850, and features the monogram D.L.D. This irregularly shaped cottage is located at the corner of Leicester Square and has two storeys topped with a tile roof. The gable ends are adorned with ornamental bargeboards and period Tudor stacks. The ground floor is constructed of stone laid in irregular courses, complete with a plinth and stone mullioned windows. The first floor is rendered, oversailing at the sides and supported by exposed timber joists. Wall Cottage was formerly known as the School House. It is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 3 (consecutive), the Archway, the Old Guildhouse, and the Post Office and Retaining Wall.
