Description
This is a late 19th-century gas lamp standard, dating from around 1890. It is constructed of cast iron and is located opposite number 79 Highcroft in Kippington Road. The standard features a tapering lantern with a central urn finial and acroteria (small ornamental ornaments) at the ends, all atop a fluted cylindrical column. It is one of several similar gas lamp standards that are found along Kippington Road.
