Description

Nettlestead House is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century. It is timber framed with plaster infilling on the first floor and painted brick on the ground floor, with 20th-century close studding to the gable ends. The roof is covered in plain tiles. The house is set at a right angle to the road, with two storeys, an attic, and a cellar. It has widely spaced timber studs of relatively slight scantling, with one curved tension brace. The structure is arranged over four timber-framed bays, with hipped roofs to both ends. A central brick ridge stack is present. The south elevation has irregular fenestration, including three two-light casement windows. The rear elevation features ovolo-moulded wood mullion windows. A plank door is located in the left gable end. A single-storey timber-framed rear wing is attached to the left. The interior retains exposed beams and joists.
