Description

LENHAM HIGH STREET TQ 8952 (east side)

10/170 Court Lodge GV II Farmhouse. 1672, with much earlier core and early-to-mid C18 and C19 alterations. Ground floor has thick stone walls, possibly Medieval. First floor red brick. Facade rendered. Plain tile roof. Double depth within stone walls. 2 storeys. 4 stacks; small projecting brick stack to rear of left gable end, ridge stack off-centre to left, large brick stack to right gable end and another to rear of right gable end. Irregular fenestration of 5 windows; 2 glazing-bar sashes to left end, one very small 2-light casement, 2 juxtaposed sashes with thick glazing bars in same opening, separated by thick mullion, to left of (ground-floor) porch and 2 more to right of porch. Rendered, gabled porch with ogee doorhead, to right of centre. Date 1672 painted on first floor above porch. Interior: Late C17 internal partitions. Late C17 well staircase with moulded balusters, handrail, and string. Bolection-moulded fireplace to right end first floor. C18 and C19 features. Re-used rafters with notched and plain lap-joint matrices form attic joists.
