Description
This is an early 18th-century house with an early 19th-century addition and a late 19th-century shop front. The building is constructed of red brick, with occasional grey brick headers in a Flemish bond pattern, and has a plain tile roof. The right gable end is weatherboarded. The house has two storeys, attic space, and a cellar, topped with a moulded wooden eaves cornice and a half-hipped roof. A brick stack is located on the rear, right-hand side, and there are two hipped dormers. The front façade has a regular arrangement of three windows, featuring glazing bar sashes. On the ground floor, there’s a rectangular late 19th-century bay window to the right and a late 19th-century shop front to the left. A half-glazed door is centrally positioned within the shop front, accessed by four steps with a right-hand iron handrail. A lower, early 19th-century rear range extends from the main house, with access provided from an alley to the right; it is built of red brick with a plain tile roof and features a dentilled brick eaves cornice. A door leading to the alley is topped with a flat hood, triglyphed frieze, and paired modillions. A loading door is on the first floor, and a tripartite window with rubbed brick voussoirs, raised in the centre, is located to the right on the ground floor. The interior of the rear range retains early 19th-century detailing.
