Description
This is an early to mid-19th century terrace of nine houses located on Marsham Street. The buildings are constructed of stock brick, with numbers 1 to 4 being slightly taller and incorporating string courses. They have mainly slate roofs. Each house has one sash window, and most retain their original window glazing bars.
The houses have doorcases, with variations between numbers 1-4 and 5-8. Numbers 1 to 4 have doorcases with cornices, triglyph friezes, panelled reveals, rectangular fanlights, and six-panelled doors, with numbers 3 and 4 featuring a double doorcase. Numbers 5 to 8 have doorcases with cornices, friezes containing two wreaths, composite pilasters, rectangular fanlights, and six-panelled doors. Number 9 has a doorcase facing Wyatt Street, with a cornice and brackets. Stone steps lead up to the street level. Some original cast iron area railings remain. Number 1 has a single-story extension with its own doorcase.
The terrace forms a group of buildings with the Church of Holy Trinity and numbers 21 to 29 on Church Street, recognized for their group value.
