Description
This is a 19th-century oasthouse located about 10 metres north of Tilden on Ulcombe Road in Headcorn. The kilns are constructed from ragstone, while the stowage is timber framed and weatherboarded, topped with plain tile roofs. The building features two circular kilns at the northeast end of a rectangular stowage structure, which is two storeys high. The kilns have cogged brick eaves cornices and conical roofs with cowls, while the stowage has a hipped roof. There is a two-light casement window on the first floor of the stowage, along with a boarded door and an external flight of wooden steps. A broad rear lean-to is attached to the stowage. The interior has not been inspected. This oasthouse is included for its group value with other nearby structures.
