Description
This is a 19th-century oast house located approximately 20 yards southeast of The Cottage in Boxley. It is constructed from ragstone and features a dentilled brick cornice and a plain tile roof. The building includes a circular kiln with a conical roof and a cowl, along with a rectangular stowage area adjoining the kiln on the northwest side. The stowage is two storeys high and has a hipped roof. The east front of the stowage has one large window towards the south end, while the west front has two smaller windows. There is also one window in the center of the north front, all featuring depressed arch heads with reddish-brown rubbed brick voussoirs. The entrance is located in the north gable end, also with a depressed arch head and rubbed brick voussoirs. At the time of the survey, the building was in the process of conversion.
