Description

Mill House is a late 19th-century water mill with an attached house, built on earlier foundations. The mill was constructed in red brick, with a Flemish bond to the ground floor, incorporating grey bricks towards the top. The first floor uses bended red and grey brick in English bond, while the north-east and south-west corners have stone walls. The attached house is of red and grey brick in a mixed bond. Both have plain tile roofs.

The mill is approximately two storeys and has attics, while the house is one-and-a-half storeys high. The mill has a stone plinth. The house features a gable end stack to the left and a ridge stack towards the right. A small gabled dormer with a finial is present on the mill. The mill has irregular fenestration, including two eight-pane pivoting casements. The house has three two-light casements, with eaves carried into the gable above each. A 24-pane horizontally-sliding sash window with a segmental head is located on the ground floor of the mill. The house’s ground-floor windows have moulded brick architraves and segmental heads. Boarded doors are found on each floor towards the right end of the mill. A half-glazed door is positioned between the left and central windows of the house. An overshot waterwheel is located at the rear of the mill. The interior has not been inspected, but the mill is said to contain machinery. The building is included on the list for its group value.
