Description

Penn Court is a house with a mid-to-late 18th-century front, potentially built upon an earlier structure. The front is of painted brick in Flemish bond, which may conceal a timber-framed core. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The house is two storeys and has attics. A painted brick plinth is visible on the left side of the front door, while a painted stone plinth is present on the right. A plat band runs around the building. There are raised rectangular brick panels below the first-floor windows. A moulded wooden cornice with Ionic modillions runs along the eaves. Projecting gable end stacks are prominent. Two dormers are present, each with a triangular pedimented gable. The front has a regular five-window arrangement of 12-pane sash windows in open boxes. The central front door is panelled and features a pointed-arched Gothic fanlight. A porch with fluted columns, crisply carved Neo-classical capitals, and a deep flat corniced hood provides shelter. A rear wing is set back from the right gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
