Description

This is a table tomb dedicated to the memory of Dr. Robert Fowler, located half a yard south of the south vestry of the Church of St Mary and All Saints. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed from stone on a stone base, featuring a moulded plinth and a corniced lid. The sides of the tomb have panels with shallow vertical roll mouldings surrounding a recessed inscription. The inscription on the south side reads: "Sacred to the Memory of Robert Fowler DR. of this Parish who was prematurely cut off in the vigour of youth..." The date of death is noted on the east end as 1814. The north and west sides are blank, and the inscriptions were largely illegible at the time of resurvey.
