Description

Forge Cottage and Miladys Forge House is a house row dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. The right section features exposed broadly-spaced studs with painted brick infilling on the ground floor, while the left section and the first floor of the right section are rendered. There is a timber-framed rear wing attached to the right section. The building has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys high with an attic on a stone plinth. The eaves at the front are slightly jettied, with a moulded wooden eaves cornice on the right section. The roof is hipped to the right, and there is a projecting red and grey brick stack on the left gable end, along with a brick ridge stack towards the centre of the right section. The building features four small hipped dormers and has an irregular arrangement of five windows. The left section has a regular two-window front with broadly-spaced two-light 20th-century leaded wooden casements, while the right section has a regular three-window front with cross windows. There is a ribbed door to the right of centre on the left section and a half-glazed door beneath a flat corniced floating hood at the centre of the right section. A lean-to is present at the left end and at the rear of the left section. The rear wing to the left of the right section includes ogee tension braces. The interior has not been inspected.
