Description
This cottage, located about 1.5 metres north of Oaklands, is a mid-18th century structure that may have been part of a larger building that has since been demolished. It features chequered red and grey brickwork and a plain tile roof. The cottage is two storeys high with a basement, set on a galleted stone plinth, and has a plat band. The roof is pyramidal, and there is a projecting stack at the right gable end.
On the first floor, there is a segmental-headed 12-pane sash window in an open box at the centre. The ground floor has a segmental-headed 3-light casement window in the centre. Access to the cellar below is through double doors, which are reached by descending six steps, and there are ventilation slits present. A small 2-light casement window is located in the cellar to the north. The left gable end has a blocked segmental-headed window with a scratch date of S.M. 1769. There is a modern entrance in a 20th-century section at the rear. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included for its group value.
