Description

Little Adelaide Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was formerly a public house, dating from the early to mid 17th century. It is timber framed with painted brick infilling and has a plain tile roof. The building features a lobby entry plan with a stack bay and a right end bay, while the bay or bays to the left of the stack are missing. The farmhouse stands two storeys high with a garret, set on a plinth made of ragstone and brick. The studding is broadly spaced and made of thin scantling. The roof was originally half-hipped to the right, and there is a brick ridge stack at the left end.

The fenestration is irregular, with one 2-light casement window on each floor to the right. There is a 20th-century door in the left gable end and a blocked door beneath the stack. A later rear lean-to has been added, along with a 19th-century two-storey addition to the right, which features one first-floor sash window and has been re-clad in the late 20th century with tile-hanging and weatherboarding.

Inside, the farmhouse has exposed framing and a tooled stone fireplace with a four-centred arched moulded head. The right gable end of the garret retains a 6-light diamond wood mullion window and a half hip, which is part of a later roof. The roof structure includes clasped purlins.
