Description

This listing describes a pair of bee-boles located in a garden wall approximately 40 yards northwest of Yew Tree House. They are likely from the late 17th century but could be from a later date. The bee-boles are constructed of brick and feature remnants of broad wooden cills, set within a red brick wall that includes occasional grey headers arranged in English bond. The two bee-boles are positioned about one foot apart and are approximately 3 feet 6 inches above the ground. Each bee-bole has a deep recess that is about 1 foot 6 inches high, with semi-circular heads and bricks that project about 6 inches from the wall. There is also evidence of a horizontal sloping canopy, one brick deep, over each bee-bole.
