Description
The Shrubbery is a farmhouse with a facade dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, possibly built over an earlier structure. The front elevation is made of yellow-red brick, while the left gable end was rebuilt in the 20th century. The roof is covered with plain tiles and the building has two storeys, featuring a moulded wood eaves cornice. There is a 20th-century brick stack on the left gable and a projecting stack on the right. The front has a regular arrangement of three windows, consisting of two 16-pane glazing bar sashes and a central 12-pane glazing bar sash. On the ground floor, there are two canted bay windows. The central door has six fielded panels and a decorative semi-circular fanlight, is recessed, and is flanked by Doric pilasters and a broken-based pediment. Above the front door, there is a fire insurance plaque. A rear wing extends to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
