Description
Grove House is a house that was formerly two cottages, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with a facade that reflects an earlier building. The house consists of two sections and has a short rear wing on the right. It is timber framed and clad in painted brick, while the right end elevation features red and grey brick in Flemish bond. The left gable end and the first floor of the rear wing are tile-hung, and the roof is covered with plain tiles.
The left section has two storeys and a garret, while the right section has two storeys, all resting on a 20th-century brick plinth. The eaves of the left section are higher than those of the right. The roof of the narrow left section is half-hipped to the left and hipped to the right, while the right section has a hipped roof to the right with a lower ridge, and the hip returns along the wing with an even lower ridge. A multiple corbelled brick ridge stack is located on the rear wing.
The house features irregular fenestration with one three-light casement window in each section. There is a 20th-century ribbed door with a square light beneath a 20th-century flat bracketed hood at the right end of the left section. The interior has not been inspected.
