Description

The ruins of the Church of All Saints are the remains of a medieval parish church, believed to date from the 12th to 13th centuries. The structure features small slabs of roughly coursed stone mixed with large flints, and includes a few ashlared quoins. The church originally had a continuous nave and chancel, but now only the west end of the nave and the north and south return walls are visible. These walls form two L-shaped blocks, each about 15 feet high and 7 to 10 feet long, separated by a gap. To the east, there is another block of similar size marking the south-east corner of the chancel. Additionally, there are three small blocks around 5 feet high, which include part of the east gable end, a possible remnant of the chancel arch with ashlared quoins located on the north side towards the east end, and another on the south wall opposite. These blocks are linked by foundations. The parish of Hope All Saints was incorporated into the parish of St Mary in the Marsh in 1934. The church was reported to be in decay by 1573 and had fallen into ruins by the mid-17th century.
