Description

The Manor House is a house dating from the 16th century, with later alterations. It is timber-framed and clad in red brick arranged in Flemish bond, topped with a plain tile roof. The left gable end is weatherboarded. The main range features a separately-framed cross-wing to the right. The house has two storeys and a garret, with a roof that is half-hipped to the left and hipped to the right, incorporating the cross-wing. The right hip extends along the cross-wing and has a hip at the rear. There is a central brick ridge stack on the front slope of the roof and another central stack for the wing at the rear. The windows have an irregular arrangement, consisting of five 6-pane glazing bar sashes, with three on the right and two on the left of the stack. The ground-floor windows have segmental heads. To the right of the stack, there is a door with four fielded panels and two top lights, which is sheltered by a flat bracketed hood. At the rear, there is an addition that runs parallel to the main range but is shorter, featuring a half-hipped roof to the left and currently incorporating stairs, along with a rear lean-to. Inside, there are exposed timbers, and the main range has a side-purlin roof, though it has only been partly inspected.
