Description
This barn, located about 70 meters north-north-east of Hayton Manor, dates from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond on a stone plinth and features a plain tile roof. The barn is oriented at right angles to the road and has brick-coped gable ends with kneelers. There is a small, partly round-headed window on the west gable end and a central midstrey that is now partly blocked, which formerly had arches. A datestone from 1739 can be found under the eaves on the south side. Inside, the barn has front and rear aisles and consists of seven bays. The principal posts are set on wooden cills that are raised on brick plinths, with cut jowls. Archbraces support the arcade plate and tie-beams, and the roof features staggered butt purlins.
