Description
Elmsted Court Farm is a farmhouse that dates back to the early 16th century or possibly earlier, with later alterations. It is likely timber framed, featuring painted brick on the ground floor and the left end of the first floor, while the rest of the first floor is rendered. The gable ends are also finished in painted brick. The building has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys high, with a plat band on the left end. The steeply-pitched hipped roof has gablets, and there are several stacks: a red brick stack at the rear on the left, a multiflue brick stack on the front slope of the roof to the left of centre, and a projecting red and grey brick stack on the right gable end.
The fenestration is irregular, comprising four casements: a small two-light window at the left end, a two-light window above the door, a three-light window to the right of the stack in a rendered section that likely dates from the 17th century and rises through the eaves with a hipped plain tile roof, and a two-light casement at the right end. The entrance door has six flush panels, a rectangular four-light fanlight above, and a flat bracketed hood positioned just to the left of the stack. There is a two-storey rear wing located towards the centre of the building, which has a painted brick ground floor and is tile-hung above, topped with a gabled plain tile roof and an end stack. The long left side of this wing features two two-light casements. The interior has not been inspected.
