Description
The Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady Help of Christians, built in 1889 by architect Leonard Stokes, is located on Guildhall Street in Folkestone. This building is designed in the Perpendicular Gothic style and constructed from red brick with stone dressings and a tiled roof. The facade facing the road features a prominent 7-light Perpendicular window, flanked by squat square towers that have multiple stone offsets and are topped with battlements extending across the central gable. There are porches at the base of the towers, and brick buttresses on the sides support mullioned windows in between. An octagonal bellcote covered in copper is situated on the left-hand tower. Attached to the church is a presbytery that has three storeys and a basement. The presbytery includes a door with a basket arch on the left and a 3-light mullion window with basket arches above the lights on the right, along with another mullion window featuring square heads above it.
