Description

Grace Chapel, formerly known as the Technical Institute, was designed by architect Frank Newman and built in 1895. This three-storey building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings. It features a very steeply pitched tiled roof topped with an elaborate cupola. The building has a parapet adorned with stone finials and part stone balustrading, as well as stone pilasters. On the ground floor, there is a round-headed doorcase on the left side supported by three stone brackets above, and another round-headed doorcase on the right side. The Library and Museum are part of a group with the Former Technical Institute.
