Description
The Library and Museum in Folkestone was built between 1886 and 1888 by Brightwen Binyon, with the construction dated to 1887. It is a two-storey building made of red brick, featuring two parallel ranges and a hipped tiled roof. The façade includes a central pediment adorned with moulded brick decorations and a parapet topped with four ball finials. There are five sash windows with intact glazing bars, each with stone pediments above and swag moulding below. The windows are framed by moulded architraves, with pilasters flanking the first-floor windows and aprons beneath them. A stringcourse runs along the building, and there is an elaborate pedimented doorcase with brick pilasters. The Library and Museum are part of a group that includes the Former Technical Institute.
