Description
Church Cottages is a pair of houses that were rebuilt in the early 19th century, originally dating back to around 1700. They are constructed from red and brown brick and feature a slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high and sit on a plinth, with a dogtooth cornice along the roofline. There are chimney stacks located at the center and on both sides of the roof. Each floor has four Dering windows, and there are rib and stud doors on both ends, which are set in gabled porches with semi-circular headed openings on imposts. This structure represents a typical reworking of an earlier building in the Goodnestone estate style. Notably, the right side of the building displays brickwork that includes many distorted molten and misfired bricks.
