Description

The Parsonage is a late 17th-century house, extended in the late 19th century. It is located on the east side of The Street, Goodnestone. The original part of the house is built of red brick, with later extensions in brown brick featuring a diaper pattern of blue headers. The roofs are slate-covered. The building comprises two parallel ranges, with two storeys and an attic. It has a plat band and kneelered parapet gables. A flat roof and a large central stack are prominent features. The first floor has four cross windows with gauged heads, and the ground floor has three, with a boarded door to the left which has a rectangular fanlight above it. The main entrance front was moved to the left return during the late 19th-century extensions. These additions include a second gable to the rear wing, featuring a massive central stack, and a half-glazed door with sidelights within a recessed porch. The porch is topped by a moulded arch on imposts.
