Description
No. 21 King Street is a late 15th century or early 16th century timber-framed house that was refronted in the 18th century and later. The bressummer below the first floor is still visible. The building has two storeys with two windows facing west and four windows facing north. The ground floor is made of brick, while the first floor is cemented. It features sash windows with intact glazing bars. The west front includes a 19th century fixed light shop-type window with an angled corner that returns into Short Street. All glazing bars are complete, and there are opening sashes on the corners. The pilasters are complete with caps and an entablature, topped with a moulded cornice. The doorway has a flat hood supported by brackets. No. 21, along with Nos. 27 and 29 and the gas lamp, as well as the outhouse with Nos. 54 to 60 (even) High Street, form a group.
