Description

This is a group of three headstones belonging to the Bowles family, located about 15 metres north-west of the Church of St. Margaret. The first headstone is for Thomas Bowles, who died in 1758, and stands approximately 3½ feet high. It features a scrolled and wreathed head, adorned with a skull and a crude cherub. The second headstone commemorates Phineas Bowles, who died in 1747, and is about 3 feet high, with a double segmental head decorated with two death heads, bones, and an hourglass. The third headstone is for Henry Bowles, who died in 1761, also around 3 feet high, with a scrolled cornice head wreathed with double cherubs.
